Bad Bull

As an Aggie, during my visit to College Station this past weekend I was truly offended by seeing fellow Aggies and non- Aggies wearing this garbage. I am reposting this letter to the president because it rings so true. Never in my 28 years as a resident of College Station and a student have I seen such utter disrespect during a presidential campaign. As an Obama supporter, I would never wear the BTHO Mccain shirt. Go back to Fish Camp, Real Aggies lead by example!!!!!

To President Murano, Vice President Weber, Executive Director Garner, and the Battalion:

I consider myself to be a proud member of the Aggie family. Both of my parents, an uncle, my wife, two of her cousins and my younger brother attended Texas A&M University. I graduated from Texas A&M with my B.S. in Computer Science in 2004 and have been a doctoral student at A&M since. I was born and raised to be an Aggie and believe that the Aggie spirit is one of respect, civility, and decency. However, today I found myself ashamed to be an Aggie. I saw a undergraduate student wearing a shirt with the slogan “Beat the Hell Outta Obama”. Regardless of one’s political stance, I find it to be un-American, distasteful, and betrayal of an the spirit of an Aggie. The students current and past of this University have dedicated their lives and in many cases died defending our country and to promote physical violence against a Presidential candidate is a tactic that one would expect in a fascist or communist dictatorship not in the land of the free. Both candidates love their country. Both candidates want to see America prosper. The decision should be based on facts and issues not slogans, rumors and thinly veiled racism. We as Aggies should stand for a better nation that does not resort to cheap tactics and illegitimately co-opting Aggie traditions for the sake of an election.

I love our new couches

Howdy! Tonight is so exciting!! The debate which I hope you are all watching. Another great thing is that we got our new couches today. They are so comfy, love 'em! So much so that I will share a picture with you.

I am trying to post once a week to keep my audience entertained. ;) So this week has been crazy busy. Getting back to work and making up for a missed week. Extra meetings, rushed deadlines, translating (ugh!), grad school stuff! I was talking to my mom giving her the rundown of my week --- and she says "Don't forget your pregnant!" Such a mom thing to say. In a baby update, I am pretty sure I am feeling movements. They are random and not very strong, but they are present. I always get a little smile on my face when I feel them. On top of all this, I got so many comments on my belly today. Hola panzona! Guess my shirt was too tight. :o)

Well at least the week is over and the semester already seems to be flying by. In less than 3 months I should finally be done. I think to myself I will never go back to school -- well at least not in Ed. Administration -- too boring. Maybe a PhD in Bilingual Ed or something in the far away future. But I digress....

Shawn has had a busy week too! I sure miss the days when he was an hourly employee and he actually benefited from working these long hours. I am so impressed with his stamina and commitment to work. They better what they need out of him because he is going to have to spend more time at home in about 5 months!

Too many tacos or a growing baby??

So what do you think?? Well I am not sure, but I think I am starting to feel some baby movements here and there. Of course, everyone says it is just gas...who knows.

Well this week has been different to say the least. I have not left my house because all of the stores are a madhouse. School was canceled for the WHOLE week! And although I have enjoyed this time off to clean, sleep and take pictures of my belly ;0) I know that catching up at school will NOT be fun. At least I think that TEA will not make us make up this week. Keeping my fingers crossed! XX

Shawn went back to work on Tuesday. Unfortunately since so many of the people on his team were affected in some way by the hurricane he has been a one man show. Luckily, he gets to come home for lunch. Here is a picture of my boys from today!

You know you are married to a Terral....

when you come home from work and you see this! Shawn is a firm believer in the saying "better safe than sorry." Well, school is closed on Friday and T-3 Energy closed this afternoon. People around here are acting frantic already. Hwy 290 was already bumper to bumper on my way home. We are planning to "evacuate" to College Station to spend time with family. We hope that you stay safe if you are in Ike's path.

******UPDATE********
OUR HOUSE HAS MINIMAL DAMAGE. THE POWER CAME BACK ON AT OUR HOUSE ON SUNDAY MORNING. SHAWN IS BACK IN CYPRESS FIXING WHAT HE CAN, WHILE I AM STILL IN COLLEGE STATION WITH MY PARENTS. SCHOOL IS OUT UNTIL THURSDAY. WE WERE LUCKIER THAN MOST THAT SUFFERED MORE SERIOUS DAMAGE. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH EVERYONE.

Girl's Weekend

Here is a picture from 2 weeks ago. I was able to have a girls weekend in Austin to bid farewell to Catrina....AGAIN!
We had a really good time enjoying good food and great conversation. It made us reminisce on our old college days, which seem like so long ago. Also, the fact that Maritza is now a senior at Texas A&M University is crazy. Needless to say I felt a little old, but happy nonetheless. I hope that we are all able to stay in touch no matter where this world takes any of us. Love ya girls.

p.s. I would post pictures from Shawn's annual dove hunt, only I think cameras are strictly prohibited in Hamilton or something. :o)

Happy to annouce....

It is official....we are expecting our first child in March. We just got back from our first visit with Dr. Cantu and the baby looked healthy and was moving all around, even though I can't feel a thing. We are so excited!! We can't wait until Oct. 23 when the sex will be determined!!! Yes, this is a sonogram of Baby Terral @ 13 weeks

Luckily I am feeling so much better. The first trimester was full of nausea and exhaustion!! Now we are focusing on getting the house ready for baby. We have so many projects we want to finish before beginning on a nursery. Many have been asking about themes....no themes yet....honestly I really don't like themes...I will let you know.

Check back at our blog for updates. The month of September seems busy for now, Shawn will be at the deer lease or in Hamilton. I told him to get it out of his system for a while! But him being gone will give me some free time to finish up this semester of graduate school. Did I mention I am expected to graduate in December?? Like I said this whole FALL will be busy.
