38 weeks - Full of complaints!

Miserable. Ready to get induced. Big. Cranky. Bossy. Bored. Introverted.

Just a few words to describe how I feel or the way that I am being lately. The only thing getting me through this is the thought that, God willing, in in about 3 days we will be able to hold our son in our arms.

I am so anxious to go to the doctor tomorrow and see if there is any change from last week. Mom says that I am "dropping". Whatever it is, it has been painful. Since Friday simple movements have been so uncomfortable. Sleep has been hard to find for about the past week. With the constant pressure, normal pains and of course the movement of the baby, I find it hard to sleep through the night.

Here is the latest picture of my body in all its glory....seriously all I want to do is go for a jog or something. I can't wait to"get back" to my old self.

37 weeks

My weekly appointment went really well. The baby looked good in the ultrasound. Today the tech measured that he is probably about 7 lbs. Last week they said 7.5 lbs. They think it is just a discrepancy with the technicians. Still 7 lbs. is measuring a bit ahead. Really big if you ask me since they gain about a pound a week. That means he will be around 8 lbs. on his Birth Day!!
Here is a picture of his face
After the ultrasound I had an NST (fetal Non-stress test), where they monitored baby movements, heart rate and contractions. I didn't have any contractions while I was being monitored.
NST picture
Doctor exam didn't show any change from Friday. She says keep up the good work and stay on bed rest.

36 week update

2nd update: 2/13/09
Bed rest is definitely helping. So is Emily! She got here on Thursday and has been such a help. She stocked my fridge, got me BP monitor and has gotten my house back to normal!! Thank you so much girl! My mom should be here on Saturday to finish up some other stuff.

I am now seeing the doctor twice a week. Every visit will have an ultrasound to make sure that Max is healthy and not at risk because of my condition. Dr. Cantu was glad to see that my blood pressure is now lower (under 150/90) is good for me.

My progression:
  • 1.5 cm
  • 50 % effaced
  • -2 station
She feels really good about a 38 week delivery on Feb. 25th. With how my body is progressing she thinks the labor will go smoothly. We don't have a time set for the induction, but by next Friday we will have more details. Check back for my updates

It's official....I have preeclampsia. Dr. Cantu has ordered strict bed rest. I was in shock when she told me. I am not ready! No sub plans! Nursery is not ready! Oh well!

She wants me to rest for 2 weeks, then she plans to induce. So barring any other complications we should have a new baby on February 25th!! Ashlee's birthday too!

We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers!

36 weeks

We had a blast this weekend! I had the best shower, thanks to my wonderful friends and family. I was overwhelmed by all the gifts and the love everyone showed. Shawn and I had to stuff most of it in the truck, believe me it wasn't easy. It was great to see old friends and family that I had not seen in a long time.

Even though I requested no pictures of my feet, I had to share this one
Our 1st Aggie outfit!! "Continuing the Tradition", Whoop!
All the excitement and commotion did however cause some extreme swelling! I have been trying to prop my feet up as much as I can. I am so anxious to see Dr. CantĂș on Wednesday to get the results from all my tests and have another ultrasound. Expect a post on Wednesday night!

Rosie was gracious enough to take some maternity pictures on Sunday. Thanks prima! It definitely took alot of skill to get my "good side" in the pictures.

Here are some shots from today:

35 week update

Went to the doctor today for my 35 week appointment. Luckily my weight gain was normal THIS time. :o)
  • By measuring fundal height the baby is measuring 36 weeks
  • By palpitation the doctor estimates the baby is about 6 lbs.
  • Dilated to 1 cm, about 30% effaced - making progress, but by no means does this mean that labor is around the corner. :)
  • need to do some "collections" to rule out preeclampsia since my BP is a bit elevated and I have some other abnormal levels from a urine sample (i know yuck!)

35 Weeks

I cannot believe how close to the end we are getting. I remember being so excited when I was 5 weeks pregnant, now I have 5 weeks left if I make it to my due date!

A few notes:
  • I am measuring "right on track", no signs of problems
  • I am having trouble sleeping
  • Max is starting to move all over (ribs, sides, etc.) and it kinda hurts
  • My feel and hands swell on a regular basis
  • My weight is on the rise ;o)
  • I had to go shopping for some bigger pants this weekend
  • The nursery is still coming along, but not ready
  • We are not 100% set on a name
All in all I am feeling great!! Here is a picture of me from today after the Super Bowl
