Max's First Day of School

We had been anticipating this day for a long time. As the day drew closer, I started to have mire reservations. In the past, we tried at home daycare, bad experience. We tried a large daycare, great school, but nor for us. But we were ready to try a MDO (Mother's Day Out). Even better that its at our church.

We went to Meet the Teacher on Tuesday. I was alone with both kids so it was interesting to say the least. There was a group orientation and then we met his teacher and 3 assistants. He loved his class. I met the teachers and talked about naps, potty training and peanut allergy. I left with a list if things to send on Thursday.

I'd been talking to Max about school everyday, but I he really had no idea what that meant. That morning he had a good breakfast and off we went. The school does car line, even on the first day. I was nervous, but they said it was like a ripping off a bandaid.

I was so nervous, but he was watching Rio and had no idea. When it was our turn one of his teachers met us, opened the door, and got him out. He said he was ready to play until the teacher say "Tell Mom bye". He looked scared, began to cry and I just watched. Then finally I just pulled away.

I was a ball of nerves all day, so I kept busy. No phone calls, so I assumed all was well. I couldn't wait until 2:30 pick up. I was in line at 1:45. Seeing him walk to the car happy and excited was the best. I played 20 questions the whole way home.

His note home said he ate some of his lunch, took a nap, used the potty and had a great first day. Yay, looking forward to next week!!!
