Shopping, playing and doctors

We kept busy all last week and it went on through the weekend. One of the big neighborhoods in Cypress, Fairfield, had a community garage sale. I love garage sale-ing, so I was excited about it. Unfortunately, Shawn had to work, so my plan of leaving Max with him so I could be a weekend warrior at the garage sales failed. I almost didn't go, but I thought how bad could it be with a 14 month old?

So I made sure to pack snacks, drinks and the trustworthy paci. To my surprise he did great and we got lots of good deals on clothing, toys and toys. I didn't find a BOB dualie stroller like I had hoped, but I still have time for that one. They cost nearly $600, so I'm in the market for a used one. After that Max and I met up at Chick-fil-A with some old friends I know from Bryan. Max was still doing great and he enjoyed his chicken, fruit and some waffle fries (so did I!!)

After a nap we headed to a baby shower for the Bannahans. Luckily Shawn made it home by then since it was a couples shower. We had a good time catching up and giving our friends tips on having a little boy. Max had fun too! There were two other toddlers there and they had fun playing with balloons and playing at the park. Shawn conveniently took Max on many walks while we were there, I don't think baby showers are his thing.

Sunday, Max woke up with what seemed to be pink eye. I was able to make an appointment that morning to bring him in. The doctor cleaned his ears out(apparently he has narrow canals in his ears because they have to do that often) and checked for an ear infection. They looked clear and he only had a temp of 99. So we went home, he took a 3 hour nap, then woke up with a temp of 101!! He looked so weak and sad. I gave him some juice and crackers and tylenol and eventually he perked up a bit. We went outside later and I noticed that he had dried up blood in his left ear. I freaked out, got on the phone with several nurses and they assured me that it was normal after they clean them out. I still am not 100% convinced!! Needless to say Max is not getting better, he's been running a fever off and on since Sunday, so we are off to the doctor tomorrow.

Here is a picture from Monday. Sick, sad, but still a cutie patootie!

Suzy is also coming into town to help me out while I go to my 28 week appointment. I'm hoping Max gets to feeling better so we can have some fun. The crib is in for baby girl, so it looks like we'll be decorating a nursery soon!! I cannot wait. I also broke down and got a new camera. Either it is hidden somewhere or Max threw it in the garbage. Here is a video with the new camera. Oh, and notice how he calls the juice "zeus" -- TOO CUTE!

I feel lost

without my camera!! It's been about a week since I last posted and thats because I usually find inspiration from the photos I take. Not sure if I lost it or if my little sidekick hid it from me. Either way I am getting worried, and starting to look for a new camera.

We have been staying busy and enjoying the outdoors. I love working in the yard and Max loves being outside so we spend a lot of our time out there. Most of my my flowering plants are coming back, thank goodness. Shawn and I plan to plant some knock out roses this weekend. Max enjoys pushing his fire truck, playing in sand, chasing Tyson, eating grass and getting into anything. I've had to try to baby proof as well as I can, but I'm sure I haven't completely. The only problem is when its time to come in. Every time Max has a total meltdown!! Am I the only one with this problem?

Shawn was in Louisiana for work most of last week. We managed just fine, but I missed the extra hand in the evening. Every night after I put Max down, I was pooped! We are experimenting with naps. It seems that Max is only wanting 1 good nap in the early afternoon. He still acts tired and cranky around 4 everyday, but he won't sleep. Only time will tell....

I have also joined StrollerFit which is a group of moms that workout with their babies. I have never enjoyed leaving Max in the daycare at the gym. My other option is having Shawn watch Max in the evenings, but I only feel robbed of my family time. This has been fun so far. I get exercise, Max gets to be outside and it is like a built in play date for Max. An added bonus is that I have met some fun moms! Obviously being nearly 7 months pregnant I can't do everything, but I go at my own pace and modify when I need to. We'll keep you posted.

This past weekend we went to College Station to celebrate a baby shower for Blake and Jayme Kendrick. I am so happy for them and I'm sure they are going to be great parents to Carter! It was great to see family and shower the expecting couple with gifts for their little one. I hope our boys will be great friends one day. I also got to celebrate Rosie's upcoming wedding at her shower. It was a quick visit, but I enjoyed seeing the girls and eating some Wings!!

So there is our week in a nutshell sans pictures. Say a little prayer that I find my camera, my blog is pretty boring without!!!!

Fiesta in San Antonio

Max took his first trip to San Antonio this week. I was a bit worried about a 3 hour drive alone with a toddler, but it went surprisingly well. I timed it around nap time, so he slept about 2 hours on each trip and didn't get fussy until the last 30 minutes or so. My mom and I ventured out to explore the city. I wanted to do so much, but we kept it simple.
He loved the Children's Museum. There was a cool tot spot that he would have probably spent all day there. I think his favorite was pushing the shopping cart at the kid-sized HEB. He also enjoyed seeing the fish aquarium.

We also went to the San Antonio Zoo, which was really nice. His favorite was probably the birds, ducks, fish and the petting zoo. He didn't care much for the big animals since they pretty much just lay around. He did like the Tiger though.

Playing in the sand box

Amazed at the fish

He loved the baby goats! He chased them all around and practiced being "gentle" while petting them.

Seeing the ducklings

Pointing at the animals and saying "gu gu". Not sure what he is saying, but he says that for birds, dogs, ducks, etc.

Happy Easter

We went to College Station for Easter this year and Max had his first egg hunt! He didn't really get the concept of searching for eggs, but he figured out that they had goodies inside. My parents yard was full of goldfish, yogurt melts, cheerios and Hersey Kisses! It was so fun to see him walking, swaying, bending over for eggs and even falling sometimes. Max's vocabulary is getting better too! He has "says' words like dog, cracker, down.

Last year & This year

On our way home we were amazed at the beautiful bluebonnets blooming. Shawn suggested taking some pictures on this beautiful day!
