Maddie is 24 months

Maddie at 24 months
So my sweet girl turned two. Her big day was soured by the fact that she and Max got hand foot & mouth disease. Don't be alarmed, apparently its a quite common virus in kids. They have red sores around their mouth, hands and feet. This on top of some teething has made my sweet baby girl whiny, dramatic and sad. :( But I want to focus on how much she has grown and what an awesome little girl she is!
First of all she is big!! She weighs 31 lbs (91%) and she is 36.5 inches long (98%). As always Dr. Nguyen was impressed with her growth. She wears 2t and 7.5 shoe size. She is bigger than just about every other 2 year old. She has always been a great eater, but she has become more picky. She does love strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, bananas, broccoli, green beans and carrots. Of course she loves Chick Fil A, ice cream and candy. And she is not allergic to peanuts or has never had a bad reaction to it. (Getting Max re-tested at 4) I have been a bad mom and usually give in to sweets, but that's about to stop. These kids are running all over me!! She's always been a pretty good sleeper, but she's had some difficulty in the last week. I think she is getting to that point where she doesn't want to miss out on fun after she goes to bed.
And boy do these kids have fun! Max and Maddie are great playmates, they are usually rough with each other, but they make up quickly. They play pretend, Maddie likes to be the princess and Max is either the king or the dragon. Funny kids. Maddie loves to sing still. Her favorites are twinkle, twinkle little star, ABCs, ring around the Rosey, Elmo's World, maybe a little LMFAO and and anything from the movie Rio. She is really physical. She loves to run, jump, climb and explore. She loves to talk, alot of the time I hear her jabbering while she plays. I love how she say "Matts" for Max(and he calls her "Mayi"). She loves to say "I don't like it" or yucky while scrunching her nose if she doesn't like something. Prime example from tonight. "I don't like it night night." Great! She counts to 10, knows some colors and works the iPad better than most adults. She's such a sweet girl and loves to snuggle. She is still really attached to her pacifier. I'm a little worried and anxious about her starting MDO in the Fall, but I know she'll love it and will learn so much. I cannot believe 2 years have passed since she came into this world and we couldn't be happier. Love you Mayi!!
Sad Maddie

She was super excited!!
She wanted to eat all the sprinkles, kept calling them chocolate chips :)
Yes, she did!

Peanut Schmeanut

I've talked about Max's peanut allergy before, so I wanted to give an update. We did a blood allergy test and it basically said that Max has food allergies to the most common things (milk, eggs, wheat, etc.). Of course those were low and his peanut allergy was off the charts. It really hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I check labels, I travel with an epi pen and benadryl and I have to watch what he eats. I sometimes feel like an annoying mom at parties with food, but I do it to protect my son. I won't stop that any day soon!! The next chapter will be sending him off to school and entrusting his teachers to do the same. Fingers crossed!

I have however introduced him to some other nut products. I bought almond butter, which is very similar to peanut butter. It states that it "may" contain traces of nut (just like almost any chocolate or baked product). I put it on some ritz crackers and assumed he would eat it up. I had my trusted benadryl right next to us. He takes a bite and immediately sticks out his tongue and makes a yucky face. No interest in it, but no allergic reaction. Yay! On the other hand he loves Nutella, so it looks like hazelnuts are okay too.
I love my son and I hate that he has to avoid nuts, but I am so thankful that he is healthy, rambunctious and cute as a button!!
