Let the Easter fun begin

Daddy headed to Hamilton for the weekend with his new buddy (and Olivia's dad) so we had a fun night at our  house with the kids. We had Laura, Olivia (20 months), Eneyda, Colton (22 months) and Caleigh (4 months) join us for pizza and cupcakes. The kids had a ball and the moms got talk and relax. These nights in are really the way to go. Other than the kids taking each others sippy cups they were great. And we made "homemade" pizzas too. Pepperoni for the kids and margherita for the moms. Yummy!

Saturday morning we headed out to our neighborhood Easter Festival and the kids had a GREAT time. We went with Jennifer and Jaxen and Laura and Olivia met us later. They boys just wanted to jump and slide on the bounce houses. It was hot and the sun was strong, but they didn't mind. There were hot dogs, chips, drinks and cotton candy! The boys were having so much fun jumping they missed the egg hunt, but Maddie and Olivia gave it a go....sort of. Maddie was ready until she saw the Easter bunny. She freaked out and started screaming and pulling away. I tried to make getting eggs seem so fun and cool but she was NOT having it. We only got a few eggs and most of them were filled with baby ruth candies. I was not going to chance giving Maddie anything with peanuts so they were upset all the way home. Thankfully, my parents came in to visit so when they saw them they forgot all about the candy!

And look, mommy finally got her hair done....ahh!

20 Months

So I took the kids to the daycare at the gym and they asked me how old Maddie was. I had to think, since I've been saying 18 months for a while. That means less than 4 months until the big 2, crazy! Well here are some pictures of my little busy bee. Last night we were reading a book before bed and she was adamant that she wanted a new book. So I let her pick one and she picked her favorite monkey book. She went right to sleep --thank God she is such a great sleeper. She loves to repeat, mimic and talk to get her point across. She even says some phrases : I want that, Max crying, all done, I'm sorry, down, bath, yogurt, chicken, apple, milk, cookie, candy, shoe, teeth, Tyson, dog, cow, bunny, kitty, bike, color, water, bath, etc. She doesn't like wearing pony tails or bows much, but she doesn't mind necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses or hats. She loves to put on a hat and say "Hee-Haw". She is very independent and stubborn. She likes to try new things even if mommy isn't ready for it. She loves to pick her foods and has become a pickier eater lately. If she sees candy and doesn't get it, she goes ballistic, literally. She can throw one heck of a tantrum!! Lucky for her the cuteness and sweetness overshadows the bad. Maddie is such a blessing and we are so thankful to have her in our lives.

Sunday Funday

We have been really trying to make it to church on Sundays. It gets us up and moving and we get a great message to start the week. It also helps that our good friends and compadre/comadre and our goddaughter Olivia usually join us too. After church this week we went for lunch at Clay's. It's a pretty good restaurant with a petting zoo and pony rides. The kids love it! Of course They also HATE to leave, which meant Max had a horrible meltdown. :/ thankfully they usually last about 5-10 minutes and he's over it. Never a dull moment.

Spring Break

We've spent most of our Spring Break with my parents. We started out visiting College Station for a few days. I had a pre-birthday dinner with Angela. We had lunch with Honey on Wednesday and she gave the kids some fun gifts. Then my mom came and stayed with me a few days before my dad and Alex came to help finish our roof. We even got a fun visit from Nana Brenda with more gifts from Christmas. Let's just say my kids were happy. Other than that we mostly just hung out, played with the kids and cooked. 

I didn't take many pictures this week, but here are a few St. Patrick's Day pictures. We all had a sleepless night because we went to bed late and Max was running a high fever (up to 105!). Thank God it went down but he had some night terrors and night sweats so I was with him most of the night. We actually got to sleep in until 8. I had my mind set to run, so I was able to hit the gym for a quick workout. While my dad, Alex, Shawn and RJ worked on the roof we made breakfast, played at the park. Laura and Olivia came over later and the kids had a blast playing. Alex grilled burgers and hotdogs. I even made some bacon-wrapped hot dogs and they were A-Mazing!! More playing and working in good company made for a fun St. Patrick's DAy. :)

With the help of some good friends I made my princess her first skirt. I got this cute fabric from Walmart I think it came out pretty well for my first skirt. Of course, don't look too closely because there are imperfections. It was also a little big since I made it more like a 2 (which she wears), but I think the pattern ran big. I want to learn to make shorts for Max and a coordinating skirt for Maddie in the near future. I feel like a good ol' Betty Homemaker!
