6 years!

For our 6th anniversary we finally went on our 2nd date night since Max was born. I know, we need to get out more!! We were happy that my parents came in to babysit so we could go out for a bit. Shawn took me to Churrascos in Houston and the food was so good! Then we went to a movie, again only our 2nd trip to a theater in a year. We enjoyed our alone time, but we definitely missed Max. I think we are one of those couples that just like to have our kids with us. Nevertheless it was good to get to some good conversation and romance back.

I love my husband for always being honest, loyal, funny, hard-working and the best Dad we could ask for. Looking forward to many more years and making memories.

Something new everday

It seems that since Max turned 12 months (which was about a week ago), he's been doing something new. So I am trying to keep track of these things since I plan to turn this blog into a book of memories. I have been signing to Max for a few months now, just a few things like milk, more, water, mom and dad. This week I was asking him to get his milk and he responded by giving me the sign, then going to get his milk. It was like an "ah ha" moment. Now I am so ready to start introducing new words. I hope this will ease frustrations when he wants to communicate with me. Also, I use these words in both English and Spanish, so I hope he'll learn both!

He has been mimicking what we say. This week he started saying "uh oh". I got so excited that I started accidentally dropping/throwing things just to get him to say it. Well, I think he assumed that you throw things and then say "uh oh". Not quite what I wanted, but it is still adorable!

This kid loves books! We have many board books and I make sure to take them to appointment and such to keep him entertained. I finally started reading Goodnight Moon to him before bedtime and he loves it. Loves to touch the books and squeals in excitement!

I know his little sister isn't here yet, but I had to get this shirt!

He loves interacting with us and other people. So cute to see his personality developing. I'm always giving kisses to Max and today for the first time, he brought his face and lips to mine and said "mmm". My baby kissed me!!! I was so excited I asked Shawn to get it on video. Of course at that point Max was over it and more interested in other things, but I still got in on video.

Ha, I ain't too proud to beg!

This weekend we took a quick trip to College Station to go to Chadito's 7th birthday party. Unfortunately, Max had a cold and being at an ice skating rink was making it worse, so we popped in and popped out. Great to see everyone though. Then we relaxed at my parents an got to spend time with them and Maritza. Nothing like pizza, Coke, ice cream and Forrest Gump!

Big Brother, Little Sister!

Today we found out we are having a girl! I was really surprised! During the sonogram, the tech was taking measurements first. As soon as I saw legs I was looking out for something....and I never saw it. So I blurted out, "Is it a GIRL??" She confirmed it, and we were going on and on with joy! Max even started clapping. Great family moment!

We celebrated with a fun lunch at Saltgrass, yummy!

12 month appointment

We made it to our appointment today and I think we were both a little anxious. We talked about sleep issues, pacifiers, breathing treatments and a possible peanut allergy (we go to an allergist in 2 weeks). Max is growing quickly and the doctor was happy with his development. They saved the worst for the end, 4 shots for my baby are no fun! Then to top it off, he got his finger pricked for some blood work. He was crying until about halfway home!! But as soon as we got home he saw Honey and his train set...it was as if nothing was wrong.

Stats:
Height 31.5 inches , 97% percentile .....He's grown 10 inches in 1 year!!
Weight - 23 lbs. 3 oz. , 50% percentile

12 months!!

Happy Birthday to Max. This past year has been amazing and life-changing. He is now taking baby steps and he gets so excited when he makes it! He loves to hand me things and say "thank you", which sounds more like "thaan kaa or thaa thaa". It works out when he gets something he isn't suppose to have I say "thank you" and he gives it to me. He also likes handing me the forks and spoons if I say "thank you" after every one. So cute! He sleeps well at night (8-7 usually), unless he gets cold or his teething. He loves bath time, playing with his toys and pushing things around. He also loves climbing the stairs. We usually have to put up the baby gate because he's quick, if we leave him alone for a minute he is up the stairs. He is eating really well. When he wants more he says "mmmmmm" or "mama". He lets you know when he's finished...that's when he proceeds to throw his food on the floor. He is still drinking formula, but we'll start on whole milk after our trip this weekend. We have his 1 year appointment next week, so I'll update with his stats then.

It's my party

Boy, did we have a good time this weekend! We loved having a house full of loving friends and family. We are so thankful for those that came to share this very special day with our family. It is amazing to see how much love there is for Max. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, cake and then some!! That was followed by a piƱata full of candy...and then cake.
Max didn't quite know what to think of his smash cake, but he loved the icing. He also loved playing with his new train table and the many, many, many new toys he received. Definitely time to think about toy storage.

11 months....a little late

Sorry we are little late with this post, but it seems that we've been busy with a "whole lotta nuthin"! Max and I have been battling the crud for about a week or two. He is getting another tooth (he has 3 so far). We've been spending time with Honey(Shawn's mom), she has been sweet enough to come and help me out with appointments and the everyday routine. We're planning Max's 1st birthday party. Shawn has been working on a big project at work, so our time has been very limited. Max is getting more mobile by the day. He is standing alone at times and has taken a few steps. He still is most comfortable crawling or cruising on furniture. He likes his push toys and walking with momma. He is very vocal, although it's a stretch to say he is saying words yet. He loves to laugh and knows how to get your attention. He is learning to eat with a spoon. He does NOT like me to feed him. At first I thought he was just not hungry. Then I figured out, if he does it himself he will eat it. This has been fun, but messy. He also likes to dip his food in sauces. I think he learned this watching me at Wings N More a few weeks ago. So much more that I can't remember. Loving our son so much!

And it seems that my waist line just keeps on expanding. I think the old wives tale about showing early is so true. I am feeling movements which has been fun. I talk to Max about his new sibling, although I know he doesn't understand. We are hoping to find out the gender of the new baby in early March.

He cruises along on everything, walls, furniture, people, etc.)

He has the cutest profile
