Sippy Cup

My son has shown zero interest in holding his bottle or sippy cup. During our trip to Colorado, I noticed his cousin Landry drinking from her sippy cup like a Big Girl. I was so surprised. Well since then, I have had... ehem... sippy cup holding envy!

But today, finally, PROGRESS!! He is trying to do it on his own, mind you he doesn't quite do it as well as his cousin, but he's doing it. :o)

Move Along

Max is getting around! He started crawling at the beginning of this month. It's incredible how fast he's getting. I put him down for a minute, and the next thing I know, he's gone! He loves going to the laundry room or the kitchen.

Our neighbors gave us their walker, so that helps me to keep him in a certain area. He now loves getting around in his walker -- sort of!

Happy 7 months to Max!

This month has been such a whirlwind! Shawn and I have been working like crazy. Max is growing and changing faster that we could have ever imagined. Lately he does something new everyday that we cannot even keep track.

Our baby is growing up! He has gotten some bumps along the road, but I guess that is to be expected. He is also getting pretty vocal, I swear he says "Mom" sometimes. He loves to squeal and scream when he likes something. Today he kept saying "dadadada"....Shawn almost got a tear in his eye!

Here are a few things Max does now:
  • Beginning to crawl
  • Sits up on his own
  • claps his hands
  • says "dadadadadadada" and "ma"
  • squeals in excitement
  • loves his dog Tyson
  • has outgrown his infant car seat - moving on to the convertible car seat
  • weighs a whopping 20 pounds!!
  • pulling up on things - see the picture below in his crib
  • jumps in his jumper
  • plays with his pacifier
  • we moved the mattress down in his crib
  • wearing 6-9 months clothing, not for too much loner though

Up, Up and Away

Maxwell and I recently took an amazing trip to visit our family in Denver, Colorado. Rosie, Elizabeth and us flew in for the weekend to celebrate the baptism of Landry Rose with her parents Ollie and Tera. The trip went very smoothly. Max was a champ on the plane (actually he slept the whole way there). I was lucky enough to have the chance to ride first class, which was so roomy!!
Waking him up after the flight made him mad though. After Ollie picked us up from the airport Max cried the whole way home. Mommy was a wreck, but he eventually calmed down. When we got there Rosie had her third birthday celebration.

The whole trip was enjoyable. We got to spend time with Ya-ya, Woody, Tia Estefana, Mark, Brian, the girls and more. It was great catching up with my cousins. Max enjoyed the playtime with his cousins and Mark and Brian's daughters.

Matching car seats ....these 2 are 2 weeks apart

6 month Wellness Check

Max did fine at his 6 month wellness check today. This was our first shot visit without Daddy. He was so active and LOVED the paper on the check-up table. He tore it up!! Dr. Nguyen was impressed with his weight and growth.

Stats:
Weight - 18 lbs. 10 oz.(50% percentile)
Length - 27 5/8 (75-90% percentile)
Head circumference - don't remember, I'll update that later

What I'm doing now:
  • hitting/patting at things
  • rubbing momma's arms, grabbing at faces
  • getting excited when he sees family & friends
  • playing in the tub: splashing, grabbing for things, sitting up with some assistance
  • trying so hard to crawl
  • lunging forward
  • rocking on all fours
  • saying ma, da and other sounds
  • gruntin when he wants something
