Three Months

Our little man is 3 months today!

We got to spend the whole day hanging out together. I love holidays! Coffee in the morning, followed by a trip to HEB. Then Shawn worked on the lawn, while I took care of Max and some work stuff. Shawn made some delicious egglpant parmigiana for dinner....yummmy!

We were so relaxed today that we almost forgot to take the monthly pictures. After searching high and low we finally found the camera. We were able to take some adorable pictures of our baby.
At 3 months Max is:
  • rolling over
  • reaching for objects
  • "Talking" - he is very responsive with coos, giggles, squeals, gurgles and grunts!!
  • Recognizes Mama and Daddy
  • Puts his pacifier in his mouth (with some placement help)
  • Can bear some weight on his legs

Maritza's graduation

So proud of my sister! She graduated this Saturday. It was a big accomplishment for her, but only the beginning. She will begin a graduate program for Public Policy at the Bush School at TAMU. The complete Valdez family was there to witness the occasion.

Tia Rosie helped me take care of Max when he got fussy. Luckily it was a beautiful sunny day so we stepped outside for some beautiful weather.

Some pictures of us from the party.

Things I love and I never want to forget about Max at 2 months

  • I love how he squirms in my arms when is done with his nap
  • How he gets a huge smile on his face when he sees Daddy
  • The look on his face after he nurses
  • The feel of his feet kicking me to wake up when we nap together
  • How he is so comforted just laying tummy to tummy when we rock together
  • His crazy hair in the morning
more later.....

Happy Mother's Day

This week went by so quickly. We were blessed enough to get to spend lots of quality time in College Station with Shawn's family to celebrate Jinx's life. I have never been to a happier funeral --weird I know -- but it was wonderful to see how close the Jenkins family is! That closeness was passed on to us, and I think it is definitely because of Jinx. Without her this family wouldn't be here. There is so much love between us all. Suzy got a GREAT picture of our family.

It was good to get the Terral boys together. With us living in Cypress it is rare that we all get together. It was so funny to see Justin and Shawn comparing strollers and sharing baby stories. I had to take a picture!

My family - sans Tyson

I hope all the Mothers out there have a great day. We plan on just relaxing at home and enjoying each other. Until next time....

Coos and Giggles

In loving memory of Jinx

Shawn's maternal grandmother, Dorothy Jean Jenkins Middleton, passed away after a very long journey. I did not get the chance to spend much time with her since we met later in her life. But from the pictures I have seen and stories I have heard, it is evident she had a full life. She will be missed by her whole family.

Here are some pictures to remember this beauty queen, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. May your soul and the souls of the Faithful Departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace Jinx.

Bath time

Our little man is growing and changing everyday. We love to see how much he smiles in response to us! He is lifting his head and arms more easily now, and sometimes it looks like he is going to take off crawling. Then we realize he is still way to little for that.

One of my favorite things to do with him is bath time. It is part of our routine. Bath, book, nurse, sleep. He is starting to like it more too! Here are some pictures from his bath.
